Students transferring money directly from overseas should allow 15-21 business days for processing and check clearance and request receipts at the time of the transaction. Do not send cash through the mail.
Planning for arrival in the United States
Upon arrival at Detroit Airport (DTW), do not leave your baggage unattended at any time. You will need U.S. money to rent a luggage carrier. A representative from Tiffin University will meet you at customs or the baggage claim area. Please look for signs with your name on it. Climate and Clothing
Ohio’s climate varies from severe heat in the summer to freezing cold in the winter. Clothing made from light cotton is most comfortable for the summer. In the fall and spring, add heavier cotton and light woolens. Ohio’s winters are often windy as well as cold, and you may need rain gear all year long. It is hard to pack everything in two suitcases and a carry on, so trips will be made available to visit a clothing store.
Health Insurance
Healthcare in the U.S. can be very costly. All undergraduate and graduate international students are required to have health insurance coverage and automatically enrolled in a health insurance program. All undergraduate and graduate students must show proof of the same immunizations as required for U.S. students at TU. Contact the IA office for health insurance.
